French bull dogs are their own unique breed. The French Bulldog was recognized as a breed by the AKC in 1898. Ranked as 2nd most popular breed by AKC for the second year in a row.
Average Height: Approximately 12 inches tall at the shoulder.
Average Weight: 16-28 pounds.
Life Expectancy: Average lifespan is 11-14 years.
Breed colors: French bulldogs come in different solid and mixed colors. Brindle, brindle & white, cream, fawn, fawn & white, fawn & brindle & white, white & fawn, and white for example.
Grooming: You should give this breed weekly brushes with a medium bristle brush or grooming mitt. Frenchie’s tend to have wrinkles in their face, it is important to make sure you dry their wrinkles properly to prevent infections or scabs because under the skin is still moist.
Personality: French bulldogs are very friendly and open to strangers. They are also very good with children, so if you have a family this is an ideal dog. These dogs don’t bark much but they are great watchdogs as they are very alert. With many different traits and characteristics these pups make great dogs no matter your household situation.
Exercise: Taking short walks or having playing sessions outdoors, is enough exercise for this breed type.
Fun Fact: As a brachycephalic or a flat-faced breed they are prone to breathing difficulties. They were given the name Bouledogue Français in French. This breed is also cousins to the English bulldog.
