Our History

History of Jefferson Animal Hospital Fern Creek

In 1985, we built and staffed Jefferson Animal Hospital Fern Creek as an auxiliary practice to our 24 hour Emergency Center to serve our patients on the Bardstown Road corridor.  We are also a full service hospital, open 6 days with extended hours and are fully AAHA certified with the same high standards as our main hospital.  Our emphasis is on client education, behavior standards and being a dog and cat friendly practice.   WE ARE A VERY PET FRIENDLY PRACTICE and want your pet to enjoy coming to see our veterinarians and staff.  We have become Certified in Low Stress Pet Care with the use of Sophia Yin Techniques.

Even though JAH FC is not open 24 hours, we are capable of the same diagnostic and treatment standards.  JAH FC is designed to provide you and your pet with routine services such as preventative care vaccinations, routine surgeries and diagnostics/emergency surgery. We work by appointment with thorough exams and comprehensive client education.    If your pet presents for a more serious problem that requires 24 hour critical nursing or more extensive surgery, we will help you transport your pet to our 24 hour hospital at 4504 Outer Loop.

We have always received clients by appointment at both our hospitals.  Our pet owners deserve a complete physical examination for their pets when they come in for their annual vaccines and exams.  It is a window of opportunity for our Doctors to teach our clients about healthier pet care.  Discussing proper diet, ear care, flea treatments, heartworm preventatives, skin care or behavioral problems are just of few of the subjects that we can help our clients with.
